- You should cover all furniture, floor, windows and stairs by the plastic and drop sheets. Remember, that during the process of ceiling stucco removal you should keep your rooms empty as much as you can in order to get the best result.
- If your popcorn ceiling hasn't been painted before, it is a good idea to spray warm water on the ceiling and let the water soap about 20 min. Repeat the process one more time and then carefully remove popcorn from your ceiling. After all, you need to do sanding of all surface.
- Apply the first coat of plaster compound on all surface and let it dry. Then you have to sand by the hard grid until you get the smooth surface. Afterwards, you need to apply a skim coat and to do a final sanding with 180grid. If it needs just to repeat the process on some spots.
- Paint your smooth ceiling by using a primer and white flat finish paint.
- Clean the working area
This process usually takes around a week if you have a team of 2 or 3 people (house 2400 sq.f. approx.) It will take longer if you have a lot of furniture and high ceiling 20 ft
